  • Local to CT - this is NOT a company that does long haul shipping.  The work is local to CT and employees sleep in their own beds
  • Coast Guard Merchant Mariner's Credential (MMC)
  • 100 Ton License as Master
  • Master of Towing
  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a tugboat captain and minimum 3 years of experience in maritime operations
  • STCW Certification

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate tugboats to assist in docking and undocking ships and barges.
  • Ensure compliance with all maritime regulations and safety procedures.
  • Lead and train crew members in safe vessel operations and emergency response protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance and mechanical checks on tugboat equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with vessel crews and port authorities during operations.
  • Assess weather conditions and interpret charts to plan safe navigation routes.
  • Supervise towing operations and ensure the secure attachment of tow lines.
